Sponsorship Opportunities
On September 21, 2020, we will be honoring Berkshire County’s first female District Attorney, Andrea Harrington as our 2020 Woman of Achievement. Andrea has been at the forefront of social justice issues, leading real and lasting change since she initiated her campaign.
This year’s event will include an in-person networking event, with appropriate distancing of course, from 4-6 pm at Balderdash Cellars, a Berkshire Winery, where you will pick up your dinner and head home to participate in a capstone virtual celebration and fundraising event at 7 pm, with Andrea participating. We will be promoting our event and fundraising also on FaceBook, Instagram, LinkedIn, The Eagle, PCTV and direct mail, starting in early August.
Here in the Berkshires – where less than one-third of county residents aged 25 and over have earned a bachelor’s degree – our Career Advancement Scholarships have helped hundreds of working women to further their education, their careers, and their family’s mobility over the past 25+ years. This year is even more important as so many women have been furloughed or laid off due to Covid-19. Many women in our community will need to seek further education to redirect their career. We are striving to award as many as 20 scholarships, a significant increase, due to current economic conditions in Berkshire County.
In the last three years alone, we have supported educational advancement for more than 40 working women in our county. At $1,000 each, these awards can be used for tuition as well as the life expenses that are too often a barrier to women’s degree completion – child care, books, uniforms, and transportation, to name a few.
We are able to help change the lives of so many women because of the generous individuals and businesses who sponsor our annual Women of Achievement Awards dinner. All proceeds from this very special evening are dedicated to the Career Advancement Scholarship awards.
We are delighted to invite you to serve as a sponsor of this year’s Annual Scholarship Fundraiser. Sponsorships, ranging from $125 -$1,250, are packed with appreciation at every level and your generosity will reap countless benefits far into the future for our community and county.

Donations in any amount are welcome and you will have additional opportunities to support scholarships for women in our community through a fun virtual auction for items from local Berkshire businesses and donors.
For many women, their children are their primary motivation for earning a college degree. They seek to pass on their ambition and drive to the next generation – and they also want to “pay forward” the benefits they receive. In the words of one of our 2019 scholarship recipients: “I have a family to take care of and I am absolutely an advocate for personal responsibility, so I believe that any assistance needs to be not only appreciated, but reciprocated in the future. I vow to donate back after I graduate.”

Sincerely,
Celia Clancy, BBPW Board President
These inspiring words from two of last year’s recipients of the Berkshire Business & Professional Women’s Career Advancement Scholarships are a testament to women’s perseverance and commitment.

Today, one in four U.S. undergraduates is a parent; 70% are mothers. Many are single mothers, and most are low income and paying for college on their own. They face a daunting array of obstacles to financing and completing their degree, as they race from work to class to childcare.
