June, 2022: Letter from the President

Dear Berkshire BPW Members and Friends,

This past Monday evening, we had our first in person board meeting in a very long time. Thank you to Alisa Costa for hosting us on your beautiful deck! We continue to be energized from the success of our recent in-person membership meeting, and we are looking forward to the future for BBPW. We hope that you share our excitement as we resume in-person programming, plan our future as an organization. We have been listening to feedback, brainstorming ideas, and we look forward to sharing new programs and member benefits over the coming months, as well as how you can get involved!

June’s Member Meeting Recap

On June 6th we held our first in person meeting in over two years. We networked IN-PERSON on the deck at Bousquet Mountain’s Lift Bistro. It was so exciting to welcome members old and new to this beautiful venue. Check out some of the photos from this event.

Thank you to our programming team, Alisa Costa and Lynn Wallace, for continuing to provide high quality, engaging content for our meetings this past year as we continued to be challenged from holding events in person.

Scholarship Applications

Friday, June 17th is the deadline for applications for our Career Advancement Scholarship Program. We appreciate your liking and sharing our social media posts, and thank you to our Communications Committee co-chairs Sharon Coe and Roberta McCulloch-Dews for your work in helping us publicize this program. As the application period comes to a close, our next step is to review the applications and select recipients. If you would like to participate in this process by joining the scholarship review committee, please contact the committee at by Wednesday, 6/22. We are financially solid and expect to award several scholarships this year to hardworking women in our community.

Board Member Committee Chairs Changes & Opportunity

We are very excited to welcome Jessica Reid to the Board as Membership Chair. Jessica will be responsible for managing our member roster, as well as leading some of our newer recruitment, retention, and engagement efforts for members. She will work closely with the other functions on the board. Please extend a warm welcome to Jessica, and we will see more of her as she becomes immersed in her new role!

We also welcome Allison Schmitt to the position of Co-Chair of Programming, succeeding Lynn Wallace, and joining Alisa Costa in this function. We are so excited to have Allison join our board to help us continue to offer high-quality programming for our members.

Thank you so much to Lynn for your continued service to BBPW, including your
contributions to our very successful 2020 Woman of Achievement event. Lynn will remain a part of the board in an “at large” capacity to provide her experience and assistance in many of the items we have in the works.

If you’d like to learn more about being on our board, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are looking to add a Vice President position to our board (a role that has been present on-and-off on the board in the last few years), as well. If you are interested in learning more about this role, please contact me.

Co-chairs Guin Griswold and Vicky Layden have been busy as they move into their new leadership roles with the Mentorship Program. Mentees, please check your e-mail boxes for invitations to the next Quarterly Mentorship Check in meeting (via Zoom) that will be held on Tuesday, June 21st at 2pm.

Looking Ahead

We will be taking the month of July off for a small break from both our Member and Board meetings. We wish you all a safe and enjoyable Summer, and encourage you to enjoy all of the natural beauty and exciting community events that Summer in the Berkshires offers!

Thank you to all for your support and membership.

We will see you in August!
