Dear Berkshire BPW members and friends,
I hope everyone is enjoying the Summer – it seems we’ve really only had a couple July days that have truly felt like July at this point, but sunnier weather is surely around the corner.
Now that things have been opening back up, my family and I have been enjoying dining in at local restaurants again, and we look forward to a picnic or two on the Tanglewood lawn later this summer. I hope you all have exciting things to look forward to as we get closer to normalcy.
As always, there are lots of updates this month:
We are excited to be moving forward with the new BBPW board roster that Celia shared with you all last month. You can read more about our new Board of Directors on the BBPW website here.
We are continuing our search for a Treasurer to fill this critical role on our board. We will be offering a stipend for this position, as the role will require specialized knowledge and experience with QuickBooks, PayPal, and the ability to learn some of the other critical systems we rely on as an organization. If you are interested, or if you know of someone who would be a good fit for this role, please contact Celia Clancy.
We had a very successful Scholarship Cycle this year, receiving a record number of 34 applications! The committee is currently reviewing application materials and will be selecting scholarship recipients by the end of the month. The Scholarship committee and program will be a focus topic for our October 2021 meeting, which will give everyone the opportunity to learn about some of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into this important program.
Planning is underway for our annual Women of Achievement event, which will take place on Monday, September 20th. Co-Chairs Stephanie Bosely and Abby Powers have been tirelessly working behind the scenes to plan and book what will be a wonderful event honoring women working in the healthcare field in our community. As the focus of the planning shifts to fundraising, we will be reaching out to members for assistance in getting the word out about the event. Be on the lookout for more information to come from the WoA committee.
Be sure to join us for our next meeting from 5:30pm-6:30pm on Monday August 2nd, which will take place virtually via Zoom. This meeting will include updates about our Scholarship and Women of Achievement programs, as well as our plans to move back to in-person meetings. We will also have networking with a fun theme to spark discussions and networking in breakout rooms. Programs Chair Lynn Wallace says “Pick your best fake background, wear your most comfy pajama pants and get ready for our (hopefully) last full virtual meeting! Can’t wait to “see” you there!” R.S.V.P. Here!
A few other announcements for members:
As a reminder, BBPW members are invited to contribute content for our monthly e-Newsletter. We also have a Member Spotlight feature each month as a way for a member’s business or organization to be featured. Our email list is growing, and this is a great way to increase visibility for your business or organization, and for members to support women-run businesses and organizations in our community. If you are interested in contributing to the newsletter, or being featured in our member spotlight, please contact our Communications Team by completing the form on this page here.
Another great benefit for BBPW members is our member portal and directory. This members-only section of our website is a great way to learn about your fellow members, as well as to share more information about yourself, your business, and what you are looking for as a part of BBPW. Please check it out and add your profile today! Members will need their password to enter this exclusive site! Meet Your Fellow Members Here!
I am so proud of what we have accomplished this year, and we have so much to look forward to with our programs coming up this Summer, Fall, and beyond. Thank you to all for your support and membership. We are a strong group and we continue to grow our reach, despite the challenges of the last year.
Take care,
Hannah
