February, 2021: Letter From The President

Dear BBPW members and friends,

Celia ClancyGreetings from snowy Vermont! How lucky am I that we chose this year to spend the entire winter here? And skiing is a great and safe outdoor activity now, during the pandemic. So I am out with my husband most mornings for a few wonderfully long runs at Killington. We see friends, mostly at a distance and our social life has become fun, if cold, small get-togethers over the firepit, along with many Zooms. I hope you are all well and safe. And I hope that like me, you have found several “silver linings” during this time of Covid-19.

I have agreed to step back into the President role for the time being, as Kalee needs the space and grace to adapt to her new role in business, following several years working in the non-profit sector. She will continue to serve on the board, as a part of our Communications team. The BBPW is all about lifting women up and helping them succeed and move forward. We are happy to support Kalee in her efforts.

We had a good Board meeting last night and will get moving on some board training to sharpen up our toolbox as a team. We have several new Board members and as you know, we are looking for a few more talented women to join our team. Serving on a board is an important part of any successful person’s career. In addition to strengthening your background by learning new skills, you get to know, shape and grow an organization, you gain friends and help other women grow too. It is very satisfying, honestly!

Here are the specifics of the roles we are seeking to fill:

President: To lead the organization forward, with training and onboarding from me. This organization has flourished of late and we want to continue the momentum!

Membership: This is a team of two. Kate Lauzon will be moving over to Programs when Beth Gilbert rolls off the board, so we are looking for a talented gal to work with Deborah Gallant.

Programs: This is a team of three. We are looking for a tech-savvy person to work with Lynn Wallace and Kate.

Secretary: This is an individual contributor role. At some point soon, Karen Zink would like to relinquish her duties to someone just as talented and new. This is probably the “lightest lift” in terms of Board roles.

Woman of Achievement: We will be holding our Woman of Achievement event again in September. We have two co-chairs, Lynn Wallace and Janet Brennan. We are looking to flesh out the team. Roles available include Fundraising Chair, Event Chair, Nominations Chair and Marketing Chair.

Here is this month’s BBPW scoop:

March Meeting: Our next meeting will be held virtually on Monday, March 1st at 5:30PM. We will be hosting another Networking Night! This event will be an hour long, and will be guided with prompted networking questions to help. We will use breakout rooms as well to help give everyone the time to have a voice! Feel free to grab a drink, bring a guest and come ready to chat. We can’t wait to see you there!

Monthly e-Newsletter: We are always looking for members who would like to submit an article for publication in the e-Newsletter and we also offer any member’s business or organization to be featured in our Monthly Spotlight. Please fill out this form to be featured.

Member Portal: If you have not looked through our member portal please check it out and add your profile today! Our email list is growing, and this is a good way to get the word out about your business and to do business with women-owned businesses.  Enter your member profile here!

I am looking forward to seeing you sometime soon, post-vaccine!
Thanks for your support and membership. With much gratitude for all we have and share,

Celia
